Discover the Chevy Equinox’s Unbeatable Safety Features
As a family-oriented compact SUV, the new Chevy Equinox 2021 is equipped with a plethora of safety features for a comfortable and convenient ride. With plenty of safety and technology features, the Chevy Equinox ensures a safe, smooth drive. Particularly in the winter months, the Equinox shines with its safety through snow, ice, sleet, and other inclement weather.
Chevy Safety Assist
All 2021 Equinox models come standard with Chevy Safety Assist. This system is a bundle of six advanced safety features to help you look out for potential hazards and potentially prevent collisions from happening. They help give you peace of mind knowing you and your passengers are protected. These six safety features include Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, and Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist.
- Forward Collision Alert & Automatic Emergency Braking: This feature warns you when it detects a potential front-end collision, provides a tailgating alert if you’re following the vehicle in front of you too closely, and uses camera technology to automatically provide hard emergency braking or enhance the driver’s hard emergency braking.
- Front Pedestrian Braking: At speeds below 50 mph during the daytime, this feature can help you avoid or reduce the severity of a front-end collision with a pedestrian it detects directly ahead of you and provides pedestrian alerts, even automatically providing hard emergency braking or enhancing the driver’s hard braking.
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning: This feature uses a brief, gentle steering wheel turn to alert you when you may be unintentionally drifting out of detected lane lines, so you can steer to stay safely in your lane, and it may provide additional Lane Departure Warning alerts if needed. Note that system alerts do not occur if you’re using your turn signal or it detects you may be intentionally leaving your lane.
- Following Distance Indicator: This displays the following gap time in seconds between your vehicle and a detected vehicle you’re following and can help you decide if you’re following much too closely.
- Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist: This feature can automatically turn on the vehicle’s high beam headlamps on and off according to surrounding traffic conditions.
Other Safety Features
Beyond things like the Chevy Equinox Lane Assist and Automatic Emergency Braking, the Chevy 2021 Equinox also includes several other safety and driver assistance features. In addition to the exterior sensors, the 2021 Chevy Equinox interior provides drivers with safety alerts and help to avoid collisions and prevent hazards.
It comes standard with a rear vision camera, a rear seat reminder, and teen driver technology. Chevy’s teen driver technology promotes safe driving habits with the built-in system to help you coach your new driver even when you’re not there. It allows you to set a speed alert, a volume limit, access an in-vehicle report card to track your teen’s driving performance, and more. The 2021 Equinox also has additional safety features available, including adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, rear park assist, lane change alert with blind zone alert, high-definition surround vision, safety alert seat, and OnStar safety & security.
With all of these safety features and technologies, the Equinox is unbeatable when it comes to protecting you and your family. Visit us at Smith Chevy in Lowell to test drive a 2021 Equinox today!
