Chevy Blazer Grille Design Features Nod to the Corvette
At Smith Chevy of Lowell, we love to report any new features and upgrades to new models of Chevrolet cars and trucks. This includes new designs as well. That’s why we are excited about the new grille design coming to the popular SUV crossover, the Chevy Blazer. The new grille design is going to be a tip of the hat to the Blazer’s sporty cousin, the Chevy Corvette Stingray. How cool is that?
The Chevy Blazer is a mid-size crossover utility vehicle and is currently the company’s second-largest crossover. This vehicle is a compromise between a full-size Chevrolet Traverse and a compact Chevrolet Equinox. Since 2019, it has been on sale and recorded a record amount of 41,870 sales in only six months of 2020. This is a significant increase to it’s 58,115 Blazer’s sold in the entire year of 2019. Chevy is projected to double those sales for the rest of the year. Although it’s already entering its third year of production, there is a very peculiar design that Chevy enthusiasts have found.
If you carefully examine the Chevy Blazer’s upper and lower grilles, you’ll notice a Stingray shape underneath the upper headlamp. It’s still unclear whether or not this design was made by accident or pure genius, but this design mimics the Corvette Stingray logo. Once you see it, you can no longer unsee it. General Motors has said that this crossover was inspired by the Camaro, but has adopted a few features from the Corvette. The black coating of the A-pillar and the shape of the vehicle of Blazer is quite similar to the Corvette C7.
Chevy Blazer models are designed slightly differently, especially the rear-end configuration that allows for additional third-row seating. Despite the modifications, the Chinese-made models still have the same discreet Stingray logo on the grille. GM Mexico builds all of the North American Blazer models at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant, and the Chinese models are built at the Jinqiao Cadillac plant in Shanghai. People love the Blazer’s for its bold and sporty look while maintaining it’s agile performance. Its Black horizontal grille, along with its ultra-thin LED daytime running lamp, adds a bit of flair and mean streak to the vehicle.
