5 Tips During Quarantine: Easy Ways to Maintain Your Car
With COVID-19 and quarantine, many of us are driving much less than we used to be. You may think that this will make it easier to maintain your car; in some ways this is true, but there are some vehicle maintain areas to be aware of during quarantine. Check out these vehicle tips during quarantine.
5 Car Upkeep Tips During Quarantine
- Clean Your Car – If you are going to put your vehicle in the garage for a while and not drive it, it could be a great time to clean your car. Washing the outside of your car can get rid of grime, salt, debris, and more. When you get rid of all of that, it can help you paint last longer and it will keep your car looking nicer. You can also take this time to clean the inside of your vehicle so that your car is all ready for you when quarantine ends.
- Start or Drive Your Car – During this time, it is also important to start your car or even take it out for a short drive every week or so. This is important because it helps to recharge the battery so that your battery does not die from not being used.
- Move Your Car Occasionally – You will also want to move your car slightly every so often so that your tires do not get flat spots. If you leave your vehicle in exactly the same place for an extended amount of time, it can wear on your tires, but if you move your vehicle slightly, it won’t be resting on the same spot on your tires.
- Change Oil When Necessary – You probably are not driving your car much, which means you are might not be at the mileage for your next oil change. However, that does not mean you should put it off. If it has been several months since you have had your oil changed, it is probably time. Oil can deteriorate even when you are not driving your vehicle all the time, so keep that in mind with quarantine.
- Check Filters – We all have tasks that we procrastinate and put off when it comes to chores, things to do around the house, and maintaining our vehicles. However, quarantine could be a good time to complete some of those tasks since you might have some extra time on your hands. One of those tasks you can do to maintain your vehicle is to check your filters. There are air filters for the cabin of your car that can breathe clean air, but these filters get dirty, so now might be a time to replace your air filter.
