History of the Chevy Truck
At Smith Chevy, we love to celebrate the history of Chevy and all that they have created over the years. There have been many great Chevy vehicles throughout history, and we are going to take a closer look at some Chevy Truck history below. Be sure to tell us, which Chevy truck is your favorite?
1918 First Chevy Truck
In 1918, the first Chevy truck was for sale. This truck was the 1918 Chevy Model 490, which was considered a light delivery vehicle. With this vehicle, the truck cab and body had to be installed by the customer themselves.
1937 Era
After the Great Depression, Chevy started working on creating trucks that had a great design, but they also started focusing on creating a more powerful engine.
1960 Chevrolet C/K Line
This line of trucks included the Chevy C10, which was a light-duty, half-ton truck. This series of trucks was really popular, and it started to offer plenty of features to give these trucks a great look. There were also plenty of engine options in these vehicles. The C/K trucks had eight engine options during their second generation.
The 1982 Chevy S10
The Chevy S10 was introduced in 1982 as a compact pickup truck. This vehicle was advertised as a light-duty utility vehicle because it could offer you a solid performance and plenty of cargo space. It also offered you both a regular and extended cab option for more seating. This vehicle was a prelude to the Chevy Colorado.
1999 and Beyond
In 1999 and the early 2000s, Chevy started to introduce some of the more modern trucks with names you surely recognize. This is the era when the Avalanche, Silverado, and Colorado were all unveiled and Chevy started to become very well-known for producing some amazing trucks.
2020 Chevrolet Silverado
The Silverado is an extremely popular truck right now, and it is not hard to see why. This truck has multiple engine options, including V6 engines, V8 engines, and even a turbodiesel engine option. The Silverado 1500 has a maximum towing capacity of 13,400 pounds, which offers you incredible power and performance. This vehicle is also loaded with user-friendly technology like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a head-up display, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a myChevrolet mobile app, and more.
